GrainPro

GrainPro manufactures hermetic storage solutions that help farmers reduce post-harvest losses and protect the quality of crops such as rice, coffee, and cacao. Through a pilot program in the Philippines, GrainPro is partnering with Farmvocacy, a social enterprise that supports smallholder rice farmers in Occidental Mindoro and Nueva Ecija. Farmers can store their rice in GrainPro’s large-scale Cocoon™ storage systems, allowing them to access affordable financing and sell their harvest when market prices are more favorable rather than immediately after harvest. This helps farmers increase income, reduce dependence on informal lenders, and minimize losses caused by moisture, pests, and spoilage. Beneficial Returns provided a loan to support the deployment of GrainPro’s storage systems through a leasing model, expanding access to post-harvest infrastructure for smallholder rice farmers and strengthening food security in rural communities.
