REJO MULYO
INDONESIA
Rejo Mulyo is a coffee co-operative in Temanggung, a lush growing area located between two volcanoes in Central Java, supporting farmers transitioning away from tobacco. Falling prices and rising input costs have made tobacco increasingly unsustainable, prompting farmers to seek more resilient alternatives. Since 2021, the co-op has grown to 279 members, helping smallholders improve coffee quality, access new buyers, and earn better prices. With a loan from Beneficial Returns, the co-op can fulfill its first international export order by paying farmers upfront for their cherries. The investment promotes environmental regeneration and economic resilience while expanding opportunities for women and young farmers.
