Algaex is a B Corp that sources seaweed from over 350 fishers and former fishers who harvest wild algae on the Peruvian coast. The collectors earn a stable income without threatening the fragile marine ecosystem. After processing, the seaweed is used as an ingredient in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and animal feed. Beneficial Returns extended a $200,000 loan to fund equipment for a fourth factory, allowing Algaex to nearly double its processing capacity.
