REJO MULYO
INDONESIA
Rejo Mulyo is a coffee cooperative in Temanggung, a lush growing area between two volcanoes in Central Java, Indonesia. The cooperative supports farmers transitioning away from tobacco which has become an increasingly unattractive crop characterized by rising input costs and falling market prices. Since 2021, the coop has grown to 279 members, helping smallholders improve coffee quality, access new buyers, and earn better prices. With a loan from Beneficial Returns, the coop can fulfill its first international export orders by paying farmers upfront for their harvest. The investment promotes environmental regeneration and economic resilience while expanding opportunities, especially for women and young farmers.
