HEINCKE

Heincke is a certified B Corporation that purchases and processes unrefined, whole cane sugar (panela in Spanish) from over 1,000 smallholder farmers in six regions in Colombia. Heincke improves the quality of small-scale production by enhancing local mill infrastructure which leads to a 30% increase in farmer income from the crop. Heincke also supports the transition to regenerative agriculture, improving soil health and farmer health.   Beneficial Returns provided a $200,000 equipment loan to expand Heincke’s product line to include micro-pulverized panela for industrial use, an in-demand product that commands a higher price than raw panela.
