GRUPO MURLOTA

Grupo Murlota is a 10-year-old social enterprise that operates in the poultry industry. They promote income generation for women in rural parts of Mexico while simultaneously improving nutrition. To date, they have helped over 40,000 women launch their own egg operations – from backyard installations for home consumption all the way up to commercial endeavors with flocks of more than 1,000. They also focus on free-range and organic eggs, which allows them to command a premium price. Beneficial Returns provided a $120,000 loan for the construction of a facility in Sinaloa, Mexico where GM incubates chicks and provides hands-on training for new producers.
